Lots of developers and software developers start to shift to Chrome, new star of browser industry, developing more and more plugins. The following is eleven currently popular plugins of Google Chome browser that writer sort out. Hope to present more and better browsing experience of Chrome to you!

1、Google Chrome Backup

Google Chrome Backup is a tool that used to back up, create, restore and delete user files. One file contains all user information, such as bookmark, browsing history and browser setup, etc..

Saving in Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsApplication DataChromiumUser Data, file could be manually copy. Google Chrome Backup finishes backup only through several clicks.

Another interesting aspect of Google Chrome Backup is it can be used to create user files. Start parameters can be user-defined for these files, for example, maximize window when start, forbid advertisement filter and start cookies.

Google Chrome Backup is a cool user data manager. For those who don’t know the differences between Chrome and Chromium may be a little confused. Perhaps Chromium is open source version of Chrome!

2、AdSweep

AdSweep is plug-in that sweeps advertisement for browser. Based on JavaScript, AdSweep adjusts CSS automatically for ads of some WebPages so as to hide ads.

AdSweep focuses on Opera development. Meantime, users of Google Chrome also can use this plug-in to hide ads.

1. Opera users start JavaScript option of advanced setup through Alt + P, and load AdSweep that has been downloaded.

2. Users of Google Chrome need to rename AdSweep.js as AdSweep.user.js. Check your Chrome version. If smaller or equal to 2.0.156.1, create C:scripts catalog in Disk C, and put js file into it. If bigger than 2.0.156.1, put js file into your user data catalog.

3. Users of Windows XP

:UsersAppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser DataDefault Besides, users of browsers like Firefox, Safari, IE also can use AdSweep according to instructions. After successfully use, reenter its homepage. Information about AdSweep activated which is showed as follows, will emerge in top right corner. After use, some Google pictures and ads can be hidden, but not effective for text ads.

3. Session Saver

It seems that Firefox users are familiar with Session, which is series of Tabs of open modes. Users also can save and manage Session so as to fulfill goals of opening series of websites quickly. Twinsen, users of Chrome Plug-in released his plug-in of Session Saver, fulfilling similar functions for Chrome.

Functions of Session Saver contain:

Save all current Tab opened in Chrome windows.
Save several Sessions, and name them.
Open all URL of Sessions in different tab.
Preview URL before open Session.
After installation of Session Saver (pass 3.0.197.11 test), icon of Session Saver will emerge in status column.

Click icon, extension window pops out. Input name in the first line of window and click save, then all tabs is saved as one Session. Choose some Session in drop-down box and click load, then session saved before is loaded. Delete / Delete All. Obviously, Delete/Delete all Session saved. Through ShowUrls, tab URL saved in some Session can be checked.

4. TPGoogleReader

This plug-in can show subscription numbers that haven’t been read in Google Reader. Moreover, subscriptions that haven’t been read can be chosen to open automatically. Probably, update once a minute.

5. Web of Trust

WOT (Web of Trust) is service that make users asset some website. It tells you reliability, privacy protection degree and anti-fishing functions, etc. of current WebPages. Among those, green symbols security, yellow symbols general and red symbols danger. As open source plug-in of Firefox and IE, today they declare to release extension of Chrome version. Just click green circle (picture above) in bottom left corner of Chrome browser, then you can see assessment of current websites browsed (picture below) from all users.

6. Smooth Scroll
You can understand through the name. Smooth Scroll make Chrome scroll smoothly. However, it’s really difficult for me to feel smooth after use it, even though many people say it’s indeed smoothed.

7. Bubble-translate

Bubble-translate achieves word mouse in Chrome. After start extension support and install Bubble Translate, choose text in Chrome and press alt +T, you can get real-time translation. Currently, Bubble Translate has just released version 0.1, only supporting English and Spanish translations. It’s believed that the one supports other languages will follow soon. Test of Chrome Dev 4.0.202.2 for Windows passed.

8. Cleeki

Before, Cleeki always developed plug-ins for IE and Firefox. Since version 1.6.0, Cleeki had already supported Chrome browser. For some users who haven’t known Cleeki, they can view Cleeki as accelerator of IE8. Cleeki can search share and preview contents only through choosing some texts, and preview results immediately.

9. LastPass

LastPass was an outstanding application extension of password management in Firefox. Now, development team release beta version of Chrome, providing safer and more convenient password management applications.

10. Greasemetal

Greasemetal is host of userscript in Google Chrome. It’s similar with Greasemonkey of Firefox, and Greasekit of Safari.
You need to install Runtime of Greasemetal when use it, and then run it. Afterwards Chrome will start automatically. Greasemetal fulfills actions of inserting userscripts through communication among processes.

However, currently it is not compatible with all codes of Greasemonkey. If you want to look for those codes, developers suggest that look for those contain codes of Safari and Opera. You can have a try!

Notes: Currently Greasemonkey doesn’t provide UI operation control. So during use, you need to copy userscript file into userjs directory of my documents. However, Kazuho Oku promises the next version will contain one UI to manage these userscript.

Of course, such operation style isn’t perfect. However, for Google, it’s not bad choice that extension API isn’t provided for Chrome. Moreover, for development of Greasemonkey, users’ directions matter. Worth anticipating!
