How to Edit a Mpeg4 Video

You've downloaded a video and there is one scene that you wish wasn't there. With the advent of technology, you are in luck. You can edit MPEG4 with almost any video editing software on the market. There are several freeware programs, so you can accomplish and MPEG4 edit without paying a single penny. The one thing to keep in mind when editing and re-exporting an MPEG4 is that the video will have a little less quality than the original. However, sometimes the loss of quality is barely noticeable.

Download and install a video editing program. There are several free ones online. Although, all newer PC's with Windows include Windows Movie Maker and all Mac's include iMovie.

Open the editing program once it is installed.

Click "File>Import." The Import dialogue box will appear. Find your MPEG4 video and click "Open."

Drag the file from the imported files dialogue box in your computer to the "Timeline" or "Sequence."

Find the tool palette which contains the trim, hand, and cursor tool. It will also contain other tools that are unique to the program.

Click the cut or trim tool. Anywhere you click on the video with this tool will cut the video at that point.

Click the hand tool. With this tool, you can move sections of the video anywhere along the timeline. You can also drag the edges of the video to make it shorter or longer in length.

Select "Effects" at the top of your screen to navigate through the different effects your program offers. Click on the effect and drag it over the video clip in the timeline. This will add the effect to your video.

Click "File>Export." The "Save" or "Export" dialogue box will appear. Save the video as an MPEG4.
